Pismo Beach Update
July

Hello! HAPPY Fourth of July!! We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday celebrating our nation's Independence Day! We will be watching the fireworks at Pismo Beach Pier from high atop the hill in Pacific Estates.

As usual we are featuring local business recommendations, useful tips & tricks, ideas and advice that might assist you in your day-to-day living in our community. All of these articles are our own experiences and opinions, so take them with a grain of salt. :)

Thank you, have a wonderful Week!

Resort & Hotel: The Sea Venture

I have to admit that I am a fan ... just like the four stars says. Right on the beach, this is a fantastic little boutique hotel that we often use for "Staycations" to celebrate Valentine's Day, Birthdays and Anniversaries. From the moment you pull into the covered parking, you feel appreciated and well taken care of. The front desk staff is always friendly ... the lobby complete with fireplace roaring on chilly days, or with doors open to the sea breezes in the Summer/Fall. After efficiently taking care of us including booking our dinner reservations (which we always do at the restaurant located at the top of the hotel so that we can have a bottle of wine or a martini with dinner and not worry about the drive), we usually find our room on the corner-view locations. It's a little more affordable and still allows you a view of the ocean, privacy from the rooms to your right and left, and that wonderful, relaxing hot tub on the deck ... more »

Service Professional: MoJoe Termite

As a real estate team with a combined 33 years of service on the Central Coast, we have gathered a team of trusted inspectors, contractors, escrow and lending professionals. Although sometimes we are compelled to use another company by a request from the other side of a transaction, it only serves to solidify in our minds why we return time and again to Joe Swiontek at MoJoe Termite. He and his wife Lisa run a very professional and friendly business, providing superior service and consultation for our team and our clients ... more »

Restaurant: Doughboy's Pizzeria

Growing up on the Central Coast, we've had our share of Pizza Places come and go ... but in the past few years there hadn't really been one that stood out from the crowd. Then one night when Gather Wine Bar was just getting started -- maybe even during her "Soft Opening" -- Kari ordered one of Doughboy's XXXL table-top pies for a treat for our group. And W-O-W were we in LOVE!! ... more »

Community Service: Supporting the Livestock Auction!

We are traveling to the Santa Maria Fair to support our local Arroyo Grande High School FFA Students who are showing and selling their livestock. We want to insure that the students at least make back their investment in raising their animals. We have 20+ projects that we sponsor and organize every year for the benefit of our community, including Youth Soccer tournaments, Christmas party for under privileged families, ethics education program and many others.  more about rotary »

Restaurant: Mo's Smokehouse BBQ

Mo's is one of those "hang-out" type places, decorated with old photos and rusting signs, and of course an amazing variety of pigs out of various materials, in various sizes. It is a no-nonsense rib joint, with a few other notable items on the menu. My husband loves the Philthy Phil's Ribs and the Sampler -- washed down with a pitcher of Firestone. Now I love my ribs, but I prefer to eat something in public that is a little easier to recover from -- no shower required -- so I go for Mo's Louisiana Hot Links Sandwich. My son is a fan of the sweeter "Sweet Carolina's Pork Ribs". But we are ALL huge fans of the wide variety of BBQ sauces that are original, and fit every possible palate or craving ... more »
